NASA STENNIS SPACE CENTER: in Pearlington, Mississippi
A short forty-five minute drive from the New Orleans Convention Center is INFINITY Science Center, a state of the art science and space educational facility and visitor center. A pre-registration gets you a spot on not just a bus trip there, but also a reserved guided bus tour of Stennis Space Center itself, a 14,000 acre restricted research facility that houses America’s largest rocket engine test facility. This facility has a rich history – it was built in the 1960’s to test the historic Saturn V engines that took humanity to the moon – and in the modern day is the home of a vast array of federal, state, and educational agencies, including the largest concentration of oceanographers in the entire world.
The Stennis tour is scheduled for Friday, July 26th, 2019 at 10:30. The tour is limited to 55 people at a cost of $30 Advanced per person ($40 Regular) and is available on first-come, first-serve basis. Besides the reserved guided bus tour, participants will be able to peruse the visitor center and eat lunch at the cafeteria (lunch not included in the price). Buses will depart from the New Orleans Convention Center promptly at 9AM, so be there on time.

TOUR A LA CARTE:
This year, the EMC+SIPI Symposium is trying something new for Companions and their friends: Tours a-la-carte!
We have contacted Hospitality Enterprises (bigeasy.com) for you to set up your own tours of New Orleans and the surrounding area! Go online and select your own tours! You can do the walking tours of the French Quarter, the Garden District or the famous New Orleans cemetery.
Besides the tours mentioned here, many other options are available with Big Easy Tours.
If you’d rather go by boat, there are two river cruises that tell about the history of New Orleans on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen. Enjoy a Jazz Dinner Cruise OR a Historic Cruise that provides a river front tour of New Orleans with a visit to the 1812 Battle of New Orleans Battlefield. The Historic Cruise is offered twice a day so you can pick a morning or afternoon tour, with or without lunch included.
Did you enjoy the famous movie “Gone with the Wind”? Then go on a Plantation Tour – there are three to choose from, with the Laura and Oak Alley plantations being the most popular. Experience a historic period of American culture, discover fascinating facts and hear rich stories about life in the Southern States during the 1860s.
The benefit of a-la-carte is that you get to pick the tours that you want, when you want them! Enjoy New Orleans your style! A big Easy Tours representative will be available Monday from 7:00am - 10:00am in the Companion Suite and information will be available at the Registration Desk.
Also, keep in mind that the National WWII Museum is just a short walk from the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel and is a huge attraction.
